On Location: Photography Workshop

Have you always wanted to photograph models on the beautiful grounds surrounding Fair Lane: Home of Clara and Henry Ford? Now is your chance! DPPA is hosting an exciting day for you to hang out with your photography peers, photograph models, and learn lighting, posing, and composition from two great mentors, Jim Schmelzer and Sam Sarkis.

Attendees will have the opportunity to try out Panasonic’s newest Lumix cameras, as well as portable constant lighting provided by Light & Motion.

Masks are required by the estate. Bring whatever you want to photograph with— camera bodies, lenses, flashes, tripods, etc. The choice is yours. Don’t miss this fun day of portfolio building!

Parking is free and available in the estate's lot across Fair Lane Drive from the home.

ABOUT SAM SARKIS

With two locations in Detroit and Los Angeles, more than 25 years Nationally Acclaimed Photographer Sam Sarkis has lived out his dream capturing the special memories of people from all walks of life. Sam Sarkis is currently listed as one of the Top 7 Photographers in Michigan by DPPA and is the current recipient of Kodak’s 2010 Award of Excellence. Sam is a long time and active member of the Professional Photographers of America (PPA) having served as a board member for several years; Detroit Professional Photographers Association (DPPA) and Wedding and Portrait Photographers International (WPPI).

ABOUT JAMES SCHMELZER

James Schmelzer is an award winning photographer and instructor with over 30 years experience teaching lighting and posing techniques.  As a LUMIX Global Ambassador, James has ben actively involved with Panasonic in demonstrating LUMIX cameras at trade shows and camera dealers across the country.

James uses LUMIX cameras exclusively at his studio where he specializes in wedding, portrait and fashion photography as well as video production services.

James is a long standing member of the Professional Photographers of America , where he holds the Master Craftsmen Photography Degree. He also holds Master of Photography Degree with the Wedding and Portrait International.

James is owner of Elite Photographic Studio in Shelby Township, Michigan.
