ABOUT ELENA GANUSOVA : PHD, M. Photog, Cr, CPP, M. Artist, TCD, TSD, TAD
Elena Ganusova was born and raised in Siberia, Russia. She earned a PhD in biophysics and has worked for over 25 years in academia, primarily in research labs. Elena's love for photography began at around six years old, watching her father perform magic in the darkroom he set up in their kitchen. Over the years, her passion for photography continued to grow.
Over the years, her passion for photography continued to grow. In 2013, after completing hundreds of hours of photography classes, Elena received a Photography Certification from the University of Tennessee, Knoxville. During her studies, she met Colby McLemore,
M. Photog., Cr., CPP, who introduced her to the Professional Photographers of East Tennessee (PPETN) in 2013 and, a year later, to the Tennessee Professional Photographers Association (TNPPA) and Professional Photographers of America (PPA). Elena served on the PPETN board from 2016 to 2024, including a term as President from 2020 to 2021, and on the TNPPA board from 2017 to 2019 and again from 2021 to 2024. Elena was induced to the TNPPA Hall of fame in 2023 and got a National award in 2024.
Elena's unique discoveries in photography, combined with her extensive knowledge of Photoshop, led her to pursue Fine Art photography, resulting in numerous art exhibitions in the East Tennessee area, including prestigious shows at the Emporium and McGhee-Tyson Airport in Knoxville. From 2015 to 2024, she received numerous awards in local, state, national, and international photographic competitions.
Elena has earned several distinguished titles: Tennessee Certified degree (2017), Tennessee Service Degree (2018), and Artisan Degree (2022). She also achieved the Photographic Craftsman Degree (2019), Master Artist (2021), and Master of Photography Degree (2023) from the Professional Photographers of America.
